Cost Rican coffee growing regions have distinct microclimates and highly fertile volcanic soil. Coffee is grown by many thousands of small-time farmers instead of large-scale growers. While not necessarily the most sought after coffee in the world, it is among the highest standards of Latin American coffee. Coffee from Costa Rica boasts of some of the strictest standards and fairest worker conditions in the region. The single-estate policy also means that there is a consistency to the coffee, as opposed to being a blend of beans from different growing areas.
